I have been a longtime listener to to Dr. Andrew Huberman on the Huberman Lab Podcast. A few months ago he interviewed Dr. James Hollis, Ph.D., a Jungian psychoanalyst, renowned educator and author on finding and pursuing one’s unique purpose. He brought daily habits and reflection during the day.
Huberman asked, “In the absence of a daily therapy session, how do you suggest people start to segment or compartmentalize in a way that is functional. For instance should people set aside 15 minutes each morning to just think about why they are on this Earth. And why they are doing or what they are doing instead of just doing?”
Hollis had a profound response from one of his former colleagues Marion Woodman in Toronto who would tell her clients they had to reflect one hour per day on their dreams or journal for 1 hour per day about what is going on with their life. When they said, “I don’t have time for that” She would say, “Well you dont have time for therapy!?
I have linked the episode here. Absolutely enlightening and thoughtful interview.
